Here are some excerpts of patient reviews from the above links. All are unedited.

Patient Review 1:

My family and I have been patients of Dr Edington for a little over a yr now. I have nothing but wonderful things to say about his office, his staff and the Dr himself. I never felt pressured into anything. everything was very well explained to me. I never felt like it was about the money I felt he truly cared about the health of my teeth. My husband who has had gum disease for years has finally recieved the treatment he needed to get this under control before he lost any teeth and ended up in dentures (as other dentist have told him he would need) No one ever explained to us the health risk in gum disease, nor did they bother to try and get rid of it- Dr Edingtons office has a procedure they use putting antibiotic directly into the gums. My husband is now gum disease free although he does have to go in more often for check ups totally worth it to keep your teeth and your health I might add. I was given pain free injections and my experience was one of total relaxation, I mean come on they put a movie on for me while I had my work done I could totally zone out about the dental work and enjoy a movie!!!!! What first class treatment!!! Thank you Dr. Edington bless you and your wonderful staff!!

Excellent results. First dentist ever that gave me pain free local anesthetics.

Patient Review 3:

After 3 miserable years with a Dentist that I do not trust, Dr. Edington and his staff have restored my faith in competent and professional Dentistry. I was treated with respect and everyone in his office showed an overall concern with my complete dental health.
I will and have recommended his practice to all I know.
Thanks so much to all at Dr. Edington’s office!

Patient Review 4:

Very new facility that I chose because it was so close to my house. The staff was very pleasant. The hygienist was a nice, young Canadian woman, who has over 7 years experience. Dr. Edington was also a nice, young man in his early thirties. He had worked for 4 years in a corporate dental practice before opening his own practice on Silverado Ranch and Pollock. He has spared no expense for new equipment, hence the name Modern Dental Care. They were still getting their equipment together when I was there. They used a software program that gives the patients a treatment plan and an estimate of the costs. The x-ray machine is digital and provides a lower level of radiation. His practice is based on family and cosmetic dentistry. Expect a pitch for tooth whitening. If you are interested, be prepared to negotiate. He made a recommendation for an oral surgeon and an orthodontist because there is no one in house to perform these procedures. Overall, I Iiked the treatment (cleaning, x-rays, and 2 small fillings). Scheduling was wide open because they are new. They were quick to adjust a glitch in their billing system that occurred. 5 star facilities, 5 star service.
Treatment Length with Dr. Edington: 5 months. posted: 08/26/2007 3:41 PM

Office response: We value our patient’s feedback and have used your suggestions to make our office even more welcoming. We are proud to announce that we have incorporated the latest technology in orthodontics. We can now straighten teeth comfortably with clear, removable aligners (Invisalign). We think you will really enjoy our new “pitch” for whitening. We can safely whiten your teeth while you are wearing the aligners. We include teeth whitening with all orthodontic patients. How does FREE sound?

Patient Review 5:

From my first visit, Dr. Edington and his staff made me feel relaxed and comfortable. He took the time to explain the procedures needed and answered all my questions.
Dr. Edington and his staff have exceeded my expectations. I highly recommend Dr. Mark Edington.

Modern Dental Care–superior service!

Patient Review 6:

It didn’t feel like I was at a dentist’s office when I first got there, and then the service was superb! When I first stepped inside it seemed too nice to be a dental practice, plus it’s in a great location (Silverado Ranch).
Dr. Edington did everything to make sure that I did not feel any pain and had options for payment that I did not know could be offered. What a relief!
This dental practice is first rate!

Patient Review 7:

Posted on 12/12/2008 Outstanding Dentist
Extremely impressed with the whole team! Dr. Edington is simply superb. His touch is as an artist, using the very latest technologies. Plus, he actually listens to his patients. I could not ask for a better dentist, and he is one of the nicest people you could want to know. Moving to a new city as job relocations have required many times, always makes me apprehensive about finding a great dentist. Well, Dr. Edington is that.

posted: 01/24/2009 1:54 PM

The office is in a very convenient location if you live in south Las Vegas. – Waiting room was very relaxing. The staff was very friendly and they informed me of what they were doing so I wouldn’t be wondering. Everyone was professional. It was very clean. My first visit was for a cleaning by the hygienist and she was very friendly. She did great work ..very thorough. On my 2nd visit I had 4 metal fillings replaced with composite (white fillings) and also an added filling for a new cavity because the metal was making my teeth sensitive. So 5 done at one time. I don’t think it was that painful at all. I am one to be more concerned with my mouth drying out with the air and sucking machine. ( I have a horrible gag reflex) It has been a couple of days since I had the work done and I have no pain and all the work Dr. Edington has done looks natural and feels right. The cost of the 5 fillings came to $135 but thats only because my insurance doesn’t cover composite fillings because of the “cosmetic” factor . I will keep going back.

Patient Review 9:

Dr. Edington, thank you for everything! You’re the best!!

Great office staff, pleasant, efficient, patient. Hygenists and dentist are very pleasant and kind. My 8 year old daughter went and had to have a tooth pulled. No complaints and she doesnt dread going. No pain. Lots of distractions for them while being worked on.

Gum disease is also called periodontal disease. Bleeding, bad breath, and loose teeth are all signs of gum disease. Pain is usually not a sign of gum disease except in advanced stages. Learn more about gum disease from Dr. Edington, a dentist in Las Vegas.

What is periodontal (gum) disease?

Periodontal disease is an infection affecting the gum tissues surrounding teeth. Periodontal disease is also known as gum disease. There are two main classifications of gum disease:

1. Gingivitis. Red, swollen gums caused by your body reacting to food and bacteria accumulating on the teeth. This accumulation is called plaque. When it hardens over time, it is called tartar. Gingivitis is very common and easily reversed in most cases by daily flossing and routine professional cleaning.

2. Periodontitis. The gums and supporting bone receding away from teeth. Often the supporting bone recedes from the teeth without visible gum recession. This creates a pocket which fills with bacteria. Your body attacks this bacteria and also destroys the supporting bone attached to the teeth. Periodontitis will lead to loss of teeth if left untreated for too long.

What are the signs of periodontal (gum) disease?

Bleeding, bad breath, and loose teeth are all signs of gum disease. Pain is usually not a sign of gum disease except in advanced stages of the disease. By the time you feel pain, the disease has already done irreversible damage. That is why it is critical to check for signs and symtoms at regular dental checkups to prevent loss of teeth and dangerous spread of the infection.

Who gets periodontal disease?

Periodontal disease is very common. Most commonly gum disease is first diagnosed in 30′s and 40′s. However, it can affect any person at any age. The most common risk factors are smoking, diabetes, immune deficiency, and/or family history of the disease.

What should I do if I think I have gum disease?

Make an appointment with a general dentist. Make sure you discuss your concerns with the dentist and expect a thorough examination of the gum tissues including measurements to be taken of the degree of gum health or disease. A treatment plan can then be made to address the disease.

If you suspect that you may have gum disease, call your dentist immediately to schedule a checkup exam. During this exam the dentist will measure the amount of bone loss and find out the condition of your gums and teeth. A treatment plan will be tailored to your individual needs.

Dr. Edington answers your questions about dentures. Dentures are prosthetic replacements of natural teeth that restore missing teeth for aesthetics, speech, and chewing function. Find out the difference between conventional and immediate dentures, alternatives to dentures and more.

What are the alternatives to cosmetic dentures?

Dental implants are the best alternative to cosmetic dentures.

Are dentures uncomfortable or painful to wear?

Yes! A new denture wearer suffers from sore spots and red, raw gum tissue. Experienced denture wearers often have the same problems but some patients begin to adapt to the discomfort. The discomfort is rarely strong enough to prevent a denture wearer from wanting to keep wearing the denture. Dental implants can stabilize a denture to make it comfortable.

What’s the difference between conventional dentures and immediate dentures?

An immediate denture is a healing denture. The healing denture is worn for the first 2 months after teeth are extracted. Once the gums have healed a better fitting final/ conventional denture can be made.

Why are lower full dentures sometimes more loose than uppers?

The upper arch is shaped wide and deep allowing the denture to stick like a suction cup to the upper gums. Lower dentures have to compete with the tongue for space and are easily dislodged. I always recommend that my patients get at least two dental implants on the lower arch to stabilize the lower denture.

How long do cosmetic dentures take to make?

The process for making dentures can take up to 6 appointments and up to 1 month or more. Some types of dentures can be made same day. Every individual presents a unique situation requiring a well thought plan to achieve the desired results.
Who should consider cosmetic dentures?

Anyone with missing teeth who does not qualify for dental implants should consider cosmetic dentures.

Why should I use a denture adhesive?

Denture adhesives fill in voids between the denture and your gums. This improves the fit, comfort, and retention of the denture

What types of cosmetic dentures are available?

Implant supported dentures-Dentures that are attached to dental implants can be fixed or removable

Partial dentures- restore one or more missing teeth with a removable prosthetic

Interim denture ( “flipper “/ healing denture)- temporary denture used while gums heal from oral surgery or as a cheaper alternative to permanent dentures

Complete dentures- Dentures replacing all missing teeth

Valplast- flexible permanet partial dentures made entirely from plastic with no metal.

What are dentures?

Dentures are prosthetic replacements of natural teeth that restore missing teeth for esthetics, speech, and chewing function.

Learn about dental crowns and bridges from Dr. Edington. What are they? How do you take care of them? What's the difference? Why would you need a crown or a bridge? Find out in this article!

How do I take care of my dental crowns?

Good oral hygiene including proper brushing and daily flossing can help to prevent decay under crowns. A plastic mouthpiece (nightguard) may be indicated for porcelain crowns to prevent fracturing caused by grinding teeth (bruxism). A fluoride paste may be prescribed to strengthen remaining tooth structure. Also, you should avoid using your teeth as tools (chewing ice, biting nails, opening cans, etc.)

What are dental bridges?

Dental bridges are crowns connected together to close a gap/ space between teeth.

How do crowns work?

A crown works by replacing enamel with metal or porcelain and bonding/ cementing to the remaining tooth structure. The tooth can then function just like a natural tooth, restoring the bite relationship, chewing, and esthetics (when porcelain is used).

How is a bridge different than a crown?

A bridge is a dental restoration consisting of crowns connected together to span a gap caused by missing teeth. A crown is the resoration of a single tooth with a cap or shell surrounding the individual tooth.

Why do crowns fail?

A crown can dislodge from the tooth due to cement failure, fracture of the crown, or decay at the margins and under the crown. These problems are sometimes not visible by x-ray or examination and can come as a surprise. A crown can also fail when subjected to trauma or extreme chewing forces.

How long will a crown last?

The American Dental Association says that a crown typically lasts 8-10 years. I have seen many crowns last much longer than this. The longevity of a crown is dependent on multiple factors including diet, saliva chemistry, chewing forces, oral hygiene, and habits.

When is a crown necessary?

A crown is required whenever there is a significant crack line that can be predicted to fracture, when decay has compromised the tooth leaving less than 50% of healthy enamel remaining, or after a root canal treatment has weakened a tooth. Crowns are also used to reshape a tooth for cosmetic enhancement.

What are dental crowns?

Crowns are dental restorations that surround and protect most of the tooth 360 degrees above the gumline.

She has been a member of the American Dental Hygienists’ Association since 2005 and is licensed in dental hygiene and local anesthesia. Libby is outgoing and a good listener, making her the perfect hygienist. She is an expert at treating and preventing gum disease (which is more prevalent than the common cold).
