Lumineers® at Modern Dental in Las Vegas
If your teeth are chipped or stained and you'd like to improve your smile permanently, you should consider Lumineers®! Lumineers is an alternative to traditional porcelain veneers and, in some cases, can be an alternative to traditional braces. Lumineers, like porcelain veneers, provide a way to conceal stains, chips, discoloration, and misaligned teeth by covering your actual teeth with a permanent layer of tooth-colored material.
What are Lumineers?
Lumineers are a particular brand of veneer that are ultra-thin and can straighten and whiten your smile. They require only little to no reshaping of your original tooth. Lumineers are also made of Cerinate® ceramic, a material thinner than normal porcelain veneers. They are bonded to the front of your natural teeth in just 2 visits to our Las Vegas dentist office.
Benefits of Lumineers include the following:
- Straighten crooked teeth
- Whiten discolored or stained teeth
- Hide chipped, cracked, or broken teeth
- Hide gaps in teeth
- Durable and long-lasting porcelain veneers
- Instant change to your smile
How are Lumineers created and applied?
To begin the process of redefining your smile with Lumineers, Dr. Edington will begin by taking an impression of your upper and lower teeth to create a mold for Lumineers. Once the molds are finished (typically during a second visit), Dr. Edington will bond the Lumineers to your teeth and set them in place with a curing light. The process is often less invasive than traditional veneers and may not require local anesthetic.
Since Lumineers are as thin as a contact lens, their application requires little to no tooth reduction, and no anesthetic is necessary. Lumineers patients find that they immediately enjoy their new smiles without any post-procedure discomfort or sensitivity.
Will I have any food restrictions with Lumineers?
No. With Lumineers, patients can still chew gum, eat sticky foods, and drink coffee. Lumineers are extremely durable so you won’t have to worry about what you eat or drink.
Can Lumineers be removed?
Yes. If you want your Lumineers to be removed to reveal your natural teeth again, it can be done. Because there is no grinding of the original teeth to apply Lumineers, they can be removed without any impact to your original smile.
How long do Lumineers last?
Cerinate®, the company that makes Lumineers, offers a five-year warranty on its veneers, and their clinical trials show that Lumineers can last up to 20 years.
